ABOUT US
MISSION
ElderCARE’s mission is to improve seniors’ well-being by providing free services, such as medical transports, grocery shopping, and companionship.
OUR HISTORY
After an extensive review of community needs, the volunteer-driven ElderCARE organization began at Victory Memorial Hospital as Victory Community ElderCARE in 1998. When Victory Memorial Hospital became Vista Health East in 2000, it was renamed Vista ElderCARE Volunteers. In 2004, Vista Health/Victory Memorial Hospital transitioned the core services to Christ Church, where it became known as ElderCARE@ChristChurch. Core services of friendly visits, grocery shopping, and escorted transportation to medical appointments continued uninterrupted to care receivers by volunteers throughout the transition.
In 2014, the ElderCARE board of directors was organized and conducted a baseline study of similar organizations in northern Illinois. ElderCARE Lake County is now incorporated and maintains its own 501(c)(3) status.
